Frostee Rucker already impressed by one Raiders rookie

Frostee Rucker hasn’t even been an Oakland Raider for two weeks, but there’s already a rookie defensive lineman who has made an impression on the 11-year veteran, former Michigan Wolverine, Maurice Hurst.

“He’s a good kid,” Rucker told Pat Kirwan and Jim Miller on SiriusXM NFL Radio. “We had a couple of conversations while I was there, and he tried to pick my brain a little bit. I just told him I’d be right there with him, the whole training camp, the whole way, learning how to play these blocking schemes, learning how to keep your pad level down and whatnot, but the kid can play, and that’s one thing I noticed watching the film before I signed the contract, that you look across the board, and it didn’t look like there were any projects. Like, ‘oh, we need you to work with this guy because he doesn’t understand this.’ All these guys have high football IQs, and it seems like when [Head] Coach [Jon Gruden] was telling them what to do, where to put their hands, they just went out there and did it the next day at practice, and that feels good.”

During his time on the air, Rucker talked about his upcoming youth camp, as well as thoughts on Gruden and the benefit of having a veteran presence in the locker room.
